Discover Power Systems Engineering at NJIT
This program Looks at energy technology and management — including protection of power systems and application of computer solutions, particularly for the electric utility industry — to help prepare the future energy and power workforce.
This program will prepare engineers to work in the power and energy industry. Academic programs in energy technology and management are needed to prepare the future workforce for the energy and power industry as more than fifty percent of the workforce in the power industry is retiring during this decade. At the same time, developing new, clean, and more efficient energy resources and technologies is of global significance.
Students in the Power Systems Engineering Graduate Certificate Program will learn a wide range of leadership and management skills in addition to the following skills:
- Power system steady-state analysis of power system networks.
- Digital computer techniques to solve power system problems.
- Transient performance of power systems (interruption of arcs, re-ignition inertia effects, harmonic oscillations, saturated systems and more).
- Energy accounting control and economic theories for interconnected steam and hydroelectric power systems.
