NJIT offers 19 PhD programs to Full-time and part-time students. At NJIT, you’ll be part of a world-renowned polytechnic university that prepares students for innovative careers at top companies like BAE Systems Inc., Facebook, Tesla, Google, and Morgan Stanley, as well as at national laboratories and universities as faculty members.

Applicants seeking financial support for Full-time Ph.D. study should apply by December 15.  The majority of chosen applicants receive support in the form of Teaching Assistantships or Research Assistantships. Exceptional students are considered for:

Gary Thomas Assistantships

  • Eligibility: full-time entering Ph.D. students
  • Years 1 & 2: University funded stipend, tuition and fees
  • Years 3 & 4: Expected grant funded stipend, tuition and fees, plus additional $2,000 university award

Provost Assistantships

  • Eligibility: full-time entering Ph.D. students
  • Years 1 & 2: University funded stipend, tuition and fees
  • Years 3 & 4: Expected grant funded stipend, tuition and fees
