Celebration 2025 Student Scholar
Jonathan Kozlik '27
Computer Science and Applied Mathematics,
Ying Wu College of Computing

A prime example of the opportunities NJIT can bring to hard-working students, Jonathan Kozlik, born in Redbank, New Jersey, is a junior NSF S-STEM scholar in the Ying Wu College of Computing pursuing a dual B.S. in Computer Science and applied mathematics.
As a first-generation college student, Jonathan credits his drive to succeed his mother; she immigrated to the United States by herself, and has built a life for the both of them. With the support and opportunities she worked tirelessly to give him, Jonathan strives to make something of himself to show her all the sacrifices were not in vain, a goal he takes to heart.
Jonathan is deeply involved in student organizations, being a member of the Entrepreneurs Society, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and is active in the Center for Student Entrepreneurship, where he shares his own entrepreneurial experiences and supports other students in their endeavors.
Even with a demanding dual degree course load and involvement with multiple clubs on campus, Jonathan still believes that the best way to learn is to build. Jonathan and his friends have attended over eleven hackathons, each with the goal of becoming better developers and applying the skills learned in their classes. Among the list of wins, the most notable was a second place finish at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his team built the decentralized AI system that would be the start of Jonathan’s entrepreneurial journey.
In his sophomore year, Jonathan and his collaborators turned their winning project into his first startup, Encryptech AI, which was taken in by the Avalanche Codebase startup accelerator, where they raised $50,000 dollars. Soon after, Jonathan was brought on to be a core developer for an MIT Media Lab project, the NANDA protocol, which aimed to fix the security issues behind the Model Context Protocol and become the foundation for the internet of AI agents.
Now, in his Junior year, Jonathan and his fellow NJIT co-founders have started Trainsafe, an autonomous cybersecurity platform. With a single prompt, their tool can find attack vectors across an entire organization, where it will write up steps to reproduce each breach alongside a detailed report on how to fix the vulnerabilities, aiming to make security accessible to companies that may not have the means to hire security experts, and to give cybersecurity professionals a powerful new tool to streamline their workflows. As the startup scales, Jonathan and his team plan to create a passive monitoring system that creates an ontology of real-time network data to detect and mitigate active security threats across companies and critical infrastructure.
After graduation Jonathan plans to pursue a P.H.D. in Mathematics focusing in Artificial Intelligence, and will eagerly continue his entrepreneurial journey.
