Applied Physics majors hone practical skills and theoretical knowledge throughout many fields of physics for successful careers in industry, academia or national labs. Applied Physics majors may also pursue and gain expertise in one of many subfields of physics, mastering the techniques and skills required to independently initiate research as well as collaborate on research to contribute to cutting-edge investigations in areas such as atomic, molecular and optical physics, surface science, astrophysics and laser spectroscopy.
