Dear NJIT Community Members,
I write today to share information with the university community regarding the beginning of our search for the next president of NJIT. As we launch this national search, we will be seeking a candidate who lives our values, understands the changing higher education landscape, and leads with integrity. The Board of Trustees is confident that we will find an excellent candidate to lead NJIT and build on our tremendous momentum.
We have recently initiated the search process and will be partnering with the highly respected executive placement firm WittKieffer, with the goal of having our next president in place by summer 2027. We also are actively working to assemble a search committee that will include representation from throughout the university community and will align with our presidential search guidelines. The search committee will be co-chaired by Trustee Nicholas DeNichilo '73, '78 and Senior Vice President Alan Kelly, and the remaining membership of the committee will be announced in early October.
Our process will be thorough and rigorous, and it will include opportunities for community members to participate and provide feedback. I commit to you that our presidential search process will be built on a foundation of transparency and inclusivity. As such, we will establish a presidential search website that will include messages to the university community regarding the search, a projected search timeline with key milestones, the presidential profile that will be provided to candidates, a listing of the search committee members, links to resources for potential candidates, and other pertinent details. Once this information is finalized, the site will be shared and updated regularly.
I would like to encourage each of you to participate by sharing your insights and feedback as our process unfolds. We recognize that selecting NJIT’s next president is one of the most consequential responsibilities of the Board of Trustees, and we look forward to working with the university community throughout the search process.
Sincerely,
Robert Cohen '83, '84, '87
Chair of the NJIT Board of Trustees
