General Information

A person with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.  A person is considered to have a disability if they have a disability, have a record of the disability or is regarded as having a disability.  NJIT will make a “good faith” effort to provide appropriate accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities on a case by case basis.  Accommodations are based on the documented needs of the individual as well as the nature of the course and institutional resources.  The institution does not however provide personal devices such as wheelchairs, individually prescribed devices such as hearing aids, or services of a personal nature.

The Director of OARS will coordinate the reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis for students and employees with disabilities that identify themselves to our office, submit documentation of their disability and the requested accommodations and complete the request for services form.  Appropriate accommodations are provided at no cost to the individual.
