Our goal is to enhance the educational and workplace experience for students and employees with disabilities at NJIT. OARS is committed to promoting accessibility, inclusivity  and awareness as a resource to all members of NJIT.

A person with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.  A person is considered to have a disability if they have a disability, have a record of the disability or is regarded as having a disability.  NJIT will make a “good faith” effort to provide appropriate accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities on a case by case basis.  Accommodations are based on the documented needs of the individual as well as the nature of the course and institutional resources.

OARS will coordinate the reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis for students and employees with disabilities that identify themselves to our office, submit documentation of their disability and the requested accommodations, and complete the request for accommodations form.  Appropriate accommodations are provided at no cost to the individual. If individuals require any assistance with submitting their requests for accommodations or navigating the OARS website, please contact at oars@njit.edu or by visiting our office in Fenster Hall 173.

Additional information regarding the accommodations process and an individual's rights at NJIT, please review the Reasonable Accommodation Policy.
