NJ GEAR UP/College Bound
This program focuses on pre-college preparation and is designed to aid students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) every step of the way, from initial program enrollment to college admission and beyond. It provides educational services and college preparatory activities to over 800 students from 6th through second semester college freshman. Participants are predominantly low-income, Black and/or Latino, and the first of their generation to aspire to attend college.
TRiO Programs
TRiO is a series of educational-opportunity programs designed to help low-income, first-generation, and/or disabled Americans enter college. Programs include the Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound and Upward Bound for English Language Learners.
Forensic Science Initiative
This no-cost program uses the growing field of forensic science to prepare high school science students for STEM college work and career. The program is open to rising seniors from select Newark public high schools. Students spend five weeks in the summer on NJIT's campus followed by enrollment in Introduction to Forensic Science, in a specialized section during the school year. Dual high school and college credit is earned.
Early College Prep Programs
The Center for Pre-College Programs offers many different summer programs for students ranging from elementary age to high school. Programs are designed to encourage and prepare students to succeed in various STEM fields.
Family Programs
Family support is integral to foster students' interest and success in STEM fields. NJIT offers virtual in-person workshops, open houses and downloadable programs and material to bring STEM out of the classroom and into your home.
