Accelerated Program Benefits

The Dual Degree program permits qualified NJIT undergraduate students to earn credits toward a graduate degree. To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA at or above 3.0 and can take nine (9) credits of graduate course work in their senior year. They can take twelve (12) credits if their GPA is at or above 3.2. These credits may then be counted towards both the bachelor and master's degree at NJIT--saving you time and money.

 

Program Criteria

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, but under 3.2, can take up to three graduate courses in the BA/MA or BS/MS program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better for taking up to four courses in the BA/MA or BS/MS program
  • To take full advantage of course double-counting,  Junior standing or at least two full time semesters (24 credits) left before graduation
  • Completed at least five (5) major courses in the baccalaureate program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for taking up to four courses in the BArch/MS or BS/MBA program
  • To take full advantage of course double-counting,  Junior standing or at least two full time semesters (24 credits) left before graduation
  • Completed at least five (5) major courses in the baccalaureate program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better for taking up to four courses in the BS/PhD program
  • Student must meet with the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies (go to the Contact Us page to request an appointment) after receiving approval from the PhD academic advisor
  • To take full advantage of course double-counting,  Junior standing or at least two full time semesters (24 credits) left before graduation
  • Completed at least five (5) major courses in the baccalaureate program

Students accepted into an accelerated program are required to:

  • Receive prior approvals from the graduate advisor in order to register for graduate courses
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of either 3.0 (for BS/MS and all variations) or 3.5 (for BS/PhD)
  • Achieve a grade of B or better in all courses
  • Contact your academic advisor in order to get completed courses shifted to graduate transcript
