Refund Information
Students who cease enrollment will have their tuition and fees adjusted according to the applicable Refund Policy published by the Registrar's Office. Students who received financial assistance for their enrollment period will have their financial aid award revised according to federal, institutional, organizational and/or state regulations and/or policies associated with the funding type received-please see Treatment of Financial Aid.
Refunds are issued based upon the overall account balance. Refunds for the current semester will start processing 3 business days after the last day of the add/drop period. Refunds are processed once a week, and then they are reviewed by the Financial Aid office. Refunds generally take 14 business days to process, however in some cases accounts require additional review and may be delayed. Please allow 14 days from the date your credit balance was created on your student account for your refund to be generated. The refund check will be mailed to the current postal address listed in Highlander Pipeline. If 30 days have passed and you have not received your check, you may complete a Student Replacement check form.
As part of NJIT’s efforts to provide students with a more efficient process, the University offers Direct Deposit to provide fast, convenient processing of refunds from financial aid or other sources. Students will receive a paper check if they do not opt-in to the direct deposit option. As with paper refund checks, if you are a financial aid recipient your refund will be issued after your financial aid is disbursed to your student account, and only after your attendance and eligibility have been verified. This may take up to 14 days after the date of disbursement to complete. Please be aware, it may take up to two weeks for Direct Deposit to activate as we verify your banking information.
*Please Note – Direct Deposit cannot be established utilizing an international bank account. Only domestic accounts may be used for this service.
