Wellness is more than just the absence of illness. It is multidimensional. There are 8 dimensions of wellness and finding a balance among the 8 dimensions brings harmony to our lives and enhances our wellbeing. The dimensions of wellness are described below and this short video will also help you to better understand the 8 dimensions.
Maintaining healthy relationships with other people; developing new friendships and intimate relations; caring about others and allowing others to care for you.
Acknowledging your feelings, values and attitudes; managing your emotions in a constructive and productive manner while maintaining a positive attitude about you and your life.
Engaging your curiosity to learn about new things; taking part in lifelong learning and continuously expanding your knowledge and skills.
Finding inspiration, purpose and value in who you are and what you do through higher mental connection.
Managing and growing your resources through informed investments; capitalizing opportunities and setting realistic financial goals.
Achieving personal satisfaction and enrichment through work that is consistent with our values, goals and personal beliefs.
Maintaining a commitment to a healthy planet and taking part in activities that preserve the air, water and earth around you.
Staying healthy and fit through positive lifestyle choices while avoiding food and habits that are detrimental to your health and wellbeing.
The 8 dimensions of wellness are interconnected. An imbalance in one area may prevent an individual from attaining their optimal state of well-being. The Wellness Wheel is a visual tool that allows an individual to identify areas in their life in which they are thriving and the areas that may need some attention.
Take the Wellness Wheel Challenge to understand where you are thriving and the areas that could use some attention. Simply print a copy of the Wellness Wheel and follow the instructions.
Resilience WheelResilience is the ability to cope with difficult life events and adapting when faced with trauma, stress, adversity or emotional suffering. We cannot escape difficult situations and challenges. Resilient individuals are better able to confront difficult situations and challenges and move on more quickly. The Resilience Wheel tool can be used to improve resilience.
