We have passed the midpoint of our fall semester with excellent results on the health and safety front. This would not have been possible without your efforts. From wearing masks and social distancing to surveillance testing and self-isolating, each of you has done what is needed to keep our community safe. We appreciate your ongoing vigilance.
To ensure our continued health and safety, we wish to communicate the following for members of our community considering travel during the upcoming holidays. These guidelines also apply to any travel planned during spring break of 2021.
Anyone traveling to locations included on the State of New Jersey travel restriction list (as published at https://covid19.nj.gov/ at the time of travel) will be subject to the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine. In addition to quarantining, a negative result to an FDA-approved COVID-19 test must be provided prior to returning to campus.
Students who travel should submit their test results through the njit.medicatconnect.com portal.
Faculty and staff who travel should submit their test results via email to the Department of Human Resources at Benefits@njit.edu.
If post-travel testing is conducted within 72 hours of arrival on campus, no additional testing is necessary. If the test is performed more than 72 hours before returning to campus, a second test is required within 72 hours of arrival. This test can be performed through the university’s surveillance testing program. These requirements also apply to anyone traveling to international destinations.
For students who must self-quarantine, please coordinate with your respective instructors regarding missed labs or other required in-person instruction to make up the necessary work.
All community members, even those who do not travel, will be required to submit a baseline negative COVID-19 test conducted within two weeks of the start of the spring semester. Residential students must submit negative test results two weeks prior to returning to the residence halls. Students can submit their results through the njit.medicatconnect.com portal. Please be sure to provide your full name, date of birth, the type of FDA-approved test conducted, and the date taken. Employees can be tested through our surveillance testing program or submit test results via email to the Department of Human Resources at benefits@njit.edu. Please stay safe and continue to keep our campus safe as well.
Thank you,
Fadi P. Deek Provost & Senior Executive Vice President
