Faculty Fridays - Event Recap

On Friday, May 2nd, NJIT faculty and lecturers gathered in CKB 116, NJIT's Office of Faculty Affairs hosted a Faculty Fridays event focused on enhancing grant writing skills. Open to all NJIT faculty and lecturers, with a special emphasis on tenure-track faculty, the session featured Dr. Tara Alvarez ( Distinguished Professor, Biomedical Engineering) and Dr. Shawn Chester ( Associate Professor, MIE; Associate Vice Provost for Research Collaborations & Partnership).

 

Titled "Navigating Grant Writing: Mock Panel Review," the workshop provided valuable insights into proposal development, strategies for highlighting broader impacts, and aligning with federal priorities. Attendees participated in a mock review panel to better understand the grant evaluation process. Lunch was provided, and advance registration was required.

 

The event fostered a collaborative and supportive environment, encouraging participants to ask questions, share experiences, and engage in meaningful discussion around the challenges of grant writing. Faculty left with practical tools and a clearer understanding of how to strengthen their proposals to increase competitiveness in the federal funding landscape. 

 

 Faculty Fridays take place on the first Friday of every month to promote collaboration and a sense of community among NJIT faculty and lecturers.​​​​
