New Lecture Halls

NJIT is taking the opportunity to reformat aging lecture halls into next-generation active learning environments, making them more engaging, providing better retention of subject matter and adding greater flexibility for future changes in technology.

Below are the two current locations under a major process of renovation.

Current Projects

Mechanical Engineering Lecture Hall Renovation

The MEC #224 lecture hall project will offer an opportunity to improve the aesthetics and functionality of the lecture hall which will benefit the entire campus community. The hall currently accommodates 64 people in fixed seating in addition to the instructor's seat. Whereas the new seating will include 57 fixed seats, 2 companion seats, and 4 wheelchair locations. The renovation of MEC #224 lecture hall is expected to be a complete renovation project. As such, the design of the project will be completed by NJIT Campus Planning, Design, and Construction Department, RSC Architects, and A&J Consulting Engineering Services, P.C. Please find below the scope of work, but not limited to, associated with MEC #224:

  • New seating/furniture throughout the room (include power to seating/furniture)
  • New ceiling
  • New lighting and switching (include track lighting, zoned circuiting and dimming capabilities)
  • Replace entry doors and hardware to the rooms
  • Infill existing door to closet
  • Install new magnetic glass boards
  • New AV systems (new projectors, ceiling speakers, microphone at instructors area)
  • New instructors teacher's desk (include new floor box with power and data)
  • New paint throughout
  • New fabric panels at the back of the room and new Millwork enclosure at front of classroom
  • New carpeting at risers and new vinyl flooring at the instructors area
  • Upgrade wireless access points
  • New power and data at perimeter walls
  • New HVAC ductwork, diffusers, and grilles
