Communication With Students

Let students know that class will continue, and tell them how you will be distributing course materials.

Possible
Strategies

Make sure the course syllabus is uploaded to Canvas. If necessary, make adjustments to assignment and exam due dates. Upload course content, documents, and readings to Canvas.
Use the Canvas Announcement tool to send emails to your class.

Note: If you are still using Moodle, you can do so through the summer of 2020. While Moodle is not mentioned explicitly, any reference to Canvas can apply to Moodle.

Deliver of Course Lectures

Lectures can be delivered live using video conferencing software or recorded using screen capture software.

Possible Strategies	Use Webex to deliver your course lectures. Record Webex sessions for students that are unable to participate. Hold sessions on the same day and time that you would regularly have class. Webex lectures may better emulate face-to-face teaching, as students can ask questions as you teach. Create recordings of your lectures using Kaltura and share links to these recordings within Canvas.

Assessment of Student Learning

Canvas can be used to collect student assignments and offer online quizzes.

Possible Strategies	Collect student assignments electronically using the Canvas Assignment tool (e.g. homework, assignments, or written reflections). You can download these files and provide feedback using Canvas. Offer online exams using Canvas. Exams can be proctored using Respondus Monitor or ProctorU.
