Tools

NJIT has many tools that can be used to deliver quality, uninterrupted instruction. These tools are regularly used to enhance face-to-face and online courses. While you may choose to use other tools, we suggest leveraging these since support is available from the Information Services and Technology (IST) Division.

Instructional Technology Tools

Email

Webmail by Google: Email is an essential tool for communicating with students (more info).

Canvas Announcements: Use the Canvas Announcement tool to send emails to your class (more info).

Network

Virtual Private Network (VPN): Cisco AnyConnect VPN allows you to connect to the NJIT network from off-campus (more info).

Voicemail: Voicemail messages are forwarded to your NJIT email address and can also be accessed from off campus (more info).

Google Drive: Google Drive, included as part of Webmail by Google, is a file storage and synchronization service. Links to files can be shared with students by adding them to Canvas or sending them via email (more info).

Library

Library Services: Students, faculty, and staff can access the library’s licensed resources from off campus using VPN. This includes database subscriptions, electronic journals, electronic books and other resources. (more info).

Alerts & Updates

NJIT Service Outage System (SOS): NJIT SOS is used to update the NJIT community about IT service outages (more info).

Campus Wide Notification System (CWNS): The CWNS allows NJIT to communicate important information about delayed openings and campus closures via text message, phone, and email. We suggest verifying your contact information is correct every semester (more info).
