Step Two: How to Join
Your guide to the recruitment process for all of our organizations.
IFC coordinates the recruitment process for the 13 North-American Interfraternity Conference and other national fraternities. There is no fee to register, but registration is mandatory. Registration link below.
Important Dates:
- September 3rd: Involvement Fair
- September 9th-12th: Welcome Week Events
- September 9th: Chapters and Challenges
- September 10th: Battle of the Colleges Field Day
- September 11th: Photo Scavenger Hunt
- September 12th: IFC Orientation and Welcome Bash
- September 26th: Bids (invitations to join) start to be handed out
IFC leaders and advisors will be available throughout the entire process for coaching and general guidance. If a student receives a bid and wishes to continue to visit other chapters, it is OK to inform the chapter issuing the bid that he wants to visit other chapters before making a final decision. Once accepting a bid, the student will need to complete the New Member Registration Form within 24 hours. If a student accepts a bid but still has other invitations from other chapters, the student must notify the other chapters that he will not be attending.
To accept a bid, you usually just say "I'd like to accept my bid". It's that easy! There are no financial requirements for registration/recruitment and no obligation to accept an invitation to membership of a chapter. So, what are you waiting for? Find Your People!

College Panhellenic Council (CPH) sororities offer opportunities for membership throughout the year, however the most opportunities for membership happen during Primary Recruitment which occurs in the first few weeks of the Fall semester. Students not interested or not able to participate in Primary Recruitment may also have opportunities throughout the Fall and Spring semesters to join a CPH chapter through Continuous Open Bidding (COB). It is important to note that not all sororities will participate in COB.
Primary Recruitment
Registration for Fall 2025 Primary Recruitment will open June 1st . The link to register is above!
At the start of Primary recruitment, potential new members (PNMs) are paired with a Recruitment Counselor - a collegiate woman from one of our chapters that helps PNMs throughout the recruitment process. During Primary Recruitment, you will have the opportunity to narrow down your preferences of sororities each day and so will the chapters, making it a "mutual selection process." Signing up and participating in Primary Recruitment does not obligate you to join a chapter at the end of the process.

Continuous Open Bidding and Spring Recruitment
Anyone wishing to withdraw after starting the Primary Recruitment process or has been released may elect to sign up for Continuous Open Bidding (COB), which will allow you to potentially pursue options of joining a chapter later in the Spring semester through a less structured process.
The opportunity to join through COB only takes place when an individual chapter falls below 'total' chapter size; which can happen for a variety of reasons. Total is the allowable chapter size as determined by CPH, and includes both new and initiated members. The purpose of total is to provide for growth of the CPH community and parity among the chapters, and to allow for the maximum number of women to participate in the sorority experience. The individual chapters with membership opportunities will be responsible for communicating the details out to the campus and potential members.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life also recognizes some of our special interest fraternities. These organizations are coed service and professional organizations.
Joining processes for these organizations vary, but they typically involve attending informational nights or service events, completing an application or participating in a brief interview, and in some cases, meeting academic or major-specific requirements. These organizations are a great fit for students seeking both a strong sense of community and opportunities for career development.
