General Information
Physician Visits
Physician visits are made by appointment. Please contact Health Services via phone to set up an appointment time. You may also come into Health Services for the appointment time. For minor illnesses and injuries such as colds, sore throats, superficial lacerations/burns, musculo-skeletal strains/sprain etc., you may come into Health Services for evaluation by our RN (nurse). Again, appointments with the RN are highly recommended. Walk-ins will be seen based on the nature of the illness, and as time permits.
In the event that you are ill, and no appointment times are available with the physician, we encourage you to please make an appointment with our RN. She will make an initial assessment and will then consult with or refer you to the physician regarding your illness. This will allow us to provide a more efficient service to you.
Referrals and fees
Referrals are made to area hospitals, specialty physicians off sites laboratories, and other sites when appropriate. These referrals have no direct affiliation with NJIT, and therefore the student is responsible for the payment of the hospital, specialist and/or laboratory fees assessed to the student. The university is not responsible for these fees. In addition, the Health Services charges fees for some in-house services These include but are not limited to: rapid strep tests, pregnancy tests, braces, EKGs, PPDs, and vaccinations. These fees are billed to your Bursar’s account and no funds are collected in Health Services.
