Faculty Annual Report

Each year faculty members are required to submit a report on their scholarly and professional activities for the previous academic year.  In order to ease the task of compiling this annual report, the University has licensed software from Digital Measures called Activity Insight for Faculty.

This system is used by a large number of national universities that all look to collect and report on the teaching, research, and service activities of faculty.  Once data are in the system, reports can be prepared for the Faculty Annual Report as well as reports need for program assessment and accrediting bodies (e.g. ABET, NAACSB, NAAB).

Faculty are encouraged to enter data continuously throughout the academic year, as they occur, for publications, presentations, awards and honors, sponsored research and other scholarly and professional activities.  This reduces the burden of compiling and entering data for an entire academic year.  Reports can be run at any time covering multiple years of scholarly and professional work.

Reporting for Annual Scholarly and Professional Activities

First-time users of Activity Insight for Faculty should  first review:

  1. The Faculty/Staff Guide – Activity Insight Overview
  2. The Introduction to Reporting Using Activity Insight
  3. The FAQs on Activity Insight for Faculty
  4. The Activity Resource Center – Knowledgebase access by clicking the question mark (?) at the top right of the screen once you are logged in Digital Measures

Please note that the reporting year for scholarly and professional activities begins on September 1 and runs through August 31 of the following calendar year.

Accessing Activity Insight for Faculty

Tenured and tenure-track faculty, department chairs, academic department administrators, and those designated by department chairs have access to Activity Insight for Faculty

In order to log in to Activity Insight for Faculty, you must provide your University Computing ID (UCID) and UCID password.  These are the same credentials you use for login to Highlander Pipeline.

Activity Insight Administrators and Proxies for faculty will need special credentials.  Please e-mail facultyreport@njit.edu for further information.

FAQ Test

Contact SRA. However you are comfortable: e-mail, phone, and stop by our office in the Fenster all Building (3rd Floor); just be in contact.

The best option is to send an e-mail to the Research Director/Project Manager with a CC to the srard@njit.edu . We recommend using your Director/Research Manager assigned to your college rather than emailing a specific staff member. This will allow us to provide coverage, if necessary, when staff are not readily available. That being said, SRA is also happy to take your phone calls and encourages you to call your representative if that is your preferred method of communication. A list of SRA contacts is located at our web site http://www.njit.edu/research/

Federal agencies distinguish between deadlines and target dates.

Deadlines are absolute and proposals received after a deadline are not accepted. For those competitions with target dates, there is no need to inform the Program Director if a proposal will be a week or two late.

If the delay will be significantly more, please contact to make certain it can still be included in the pending review cycle. For some NSF competitions, requests may be submitted at any time

Follow the Proposal Preparation Guide:

  1. Work with Department/College Representative and SRA early in the process
  2. Read the solicitation closely and address any special requirement
  3. Become familiar with agency-specific rules, e.g. National Institutes of Health (NIH) salary cap and National Science Foundation (NSF) 2-month effort limitation.
  4. Prepare the necessary forms. Ensure all Investigators have submitted their Conflict of Interest Disclosure prior to submission
  5. Confirm the Internal Sign off has been approved up to SRA's level of approval
  6. If the proposal includes subcontracts, ensure you have received the signed Sub-recipient Commitment Form for each subcontractor.

Any federal agency recognizes that innovative research often lies at or between traditional disciplinary boundaries and encourages interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.

A potential applicant should contact a relevant program Director and discuss their particular project. For administrative reasons a proposal may be submitted to only one Program. However it can be jointly evaluated and funded by several. This is a common practice in archaeology and projects do not slip between the cracks. Experience indicates that review by multiple Programs may best be viewed as multiple opportunities for support and not as double jeopardy.

There are several mechanisms to provide support to researchers at multiple institutions and to accomplish this within the framework of a single project.

These include subcontracts, collaborative awards and a central plan of administration by a single institution. Although one needs to consider carefully which mechanism is most appropriate in a specific case, none are cumbersome and all are regularly employed.

Applicants should call the Program Director to discuss the details, advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.

Putting some text in here to see if it changes the layout of the page. Not sure what the minimum width should be or else i could just set that and it would be fine.

Congratulations on your acceptance to NJIT! Below is information pertaining to all accepted international students. International students are students who will study at NJIT in F-1 status. Exchange students (J-1) should go to https://www.njit.edu/global/incoming/j1-students/exchange.

After reviewing the information below, select your appropriate student type (first-year, transfer or graduate) to review specific next steps.

As an international student, you must apply for a student visa to come to NJIT. Here are the steps for that:

  1. Pay your SEVIS fee. Go to fmjfee.com to pay the required SEVIS fee (Form I-901 fee). You can make the payment by credit card (online) or by check/money order (mail). You will need to show the receipt to the consular officer at the time of your visa interview. You will have to provide your SEVIS number when you pay the fee. Your SEVIS number can be found on your application status page (connect.njit.edu/status) or on your I-20 document (top left-hand corner, starting with the letter “N”).
  2. Schedule an appointment for your visa interview. Contact the nearest American embassy or consulate to apply for your F-1 visa. The list of documents you need to bring to your interview varies from country to country, so check the embassy or consulate website for detailed information.
  3. Prepare for your visa interview. You should be ready to explain why you chose NJIT, what your objectives and goals are and what you plan to do after you earn your degree. Your interview will be conducted in English.
  4. Contact EducationUSA for additional support. If you would like to get additional support to help you prepare for your visa interview, contact the nearest Education USA office (educationusa.info) and schedule an appointment with a counselor. EducationUSA offices provide free of charge services to students planning to study in the United States.
  5. Complete NJIT’s International Student Orientation. All new international students are required to complete the mandatory international student online orientation prior to arriving on campus.  Check njit.edu/global/new-student-information for more information.
