
NJ Transit Student Pass
NJIT and NJ Transit have partnered to offer full-time, students the opportunity to purchase a bus, rail or light rail monthly pass at 25% off the regular monthly pass price.
Any student who wants to sign up for the NJ Transit Student Pass program will need to first be registered for classes and then sign up through their pipeline account. For more information on this program, head to the NJ Transit Website for details and special offers. **If you would like to pay cash for a student train pass instead of using the NJ Transit App, these tickets are available by asking a station attendant for a student pass application. This application will need to be brought to the Student Life office for approval, then returned to the rail station to receive your paper pass. These passes are not eligible to cover light rail or bus travel.

Getting started is easy.

Steps to get Student pass for September:
1. Wait for the start date for buying tickets, which is the 19th of the month before you are buying tickets for at 5:00pm. For example, if you are buying for September, you will need to wait until August 19th in order to be able to buy your pass.
2. Log-in to Pipeline
3. Click link for NJ Transit Student Pass
4. If you are an eligible student (12 credits and above) you will get in. Click the green button on the page that says “Sign up for your NJ Transit Mobile Student Monthly Passes Today!”
5. Fill out form with your info and submit – make sure you use your NJIT EMAIL not your personal email.
6. Wait for a verification email.
7. Once you get your verification email, download the NJ Transit app and log in using your NJIT email. ****If you already use the NJ Transit application and it is attached to a personal email, delete the app and re-install it on your phone before signing in with your NJIT email & password you created***
8. Once you are in, you should be able to see the “Student” option when you go to purchase tickets.
Passes may be purchased from the 19th of the preceding month through the 10th of the month that the pass is valid.
Existing Mobile Student Users
If you are an existing Mobile Student Monthly customer, you need to reactivate your account at the start of each semester. Here's how:
1. Wait for August 19th @ 5:00pm
2. Log-in to Pipeline
3. Click link for NJ Transit Student Pass
4. If you are an eligible student (12 credits and above) you will get in. Click the BLUE button on the page to reactivate your account.
7. Log-in to NJ Transit app and log in using your NJIT email.
8. Once you are in, you should be able to see the “Student” option when you go to purchase tickets.
Why Mobile Student Monthly?
Mobile passes offer the convenience of purchasing and displaying your student monthly pass on your mobile device. No need to pre-pay or wait for a paper ticket in the mail. Buy at your leisure.
It's important to remember:

Sign in with your .edu email and password

Select a Student Monthly pass and pay for it in the app

Monthly passes are available for purchase from the 19th of the previous month through the 10th of the month the pass is valid

On the 1st of the month your student pass will display in the app
Students who participate in this program agree that the monthly pass is for their exclusive use only. Each student is eligible to receive one discounted monthly pass per month. Passes are non-transferable. Any abuse or purposeful deception will result in the cancellation of the student's monthly pass account, and (s)he will be unable to participate in the program in the future. This will also apply to any other student who is knowingly involved.
