Understanding the New F-1 Regulations: Maintaining Your Status Under the New DHS Rule

The Office of Global Initiatives invites all F-1 international students to attend an important immigration information session regarding the new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations that are currently scheduled to take effect on September 15, 2026.

This webinar will provide an overview of the significant changes introduced by the new rule, including the transition from Duration of Status (D/S) to a fixed period of admission, the new Extension of Stay process, and what these changes may mean for current and future F-1 students. Attorneys will also discuss strategies for maintaining lawful F-1 status, common scenarios that may be affected by the new regulations, and answer participants' questions during a live Q&A session.
