Initiatives
Civic and Community Engagement Initiatives
The Office of Public and Community Affairs (OPCA) designs and supports initiatives that build meaningful connections between NJIT and the broader community through public service, civic engagement, and leadership development. These efforts empower students, faculty, and staff to serve as active civic leaders and ambassadors of the university. OPCA facilitates student engagement in local civic opportunities, supports faculty involvement in addressing community challenges, encourages staff participation in community initiatives, and coordinates university–community partnerships that foster collaborative projects benefiting both NJIT and its surrounding communities.
Regional Impact Initiatives
Through strategic partnerships and targeted programming, the Office of Public and Community Affairs (OPCA) strengthens NJIT’s position as a trusted contributor to regional development. This includes active participation in economic development projects, support for community revitalization initiatives, advancement of social equity and inclusion through program development, and the cultivation of innovation ecosystems that leverage NJIT’s research and institutional strengths to address regional needs.
