NJIT Economic Impact Reports
NJIT’s role as a premier polytechnic university extends far beyond the classroom. Through innovation, research, education, and strategic partnerships, NJIT drives significant economic growth for the City of Newark and the State of New Jersey.
NJIT generated $2.8 billion in annual economic impact, supported 17,400 jobs, and invested over $600 million in campus transformation projects. With 105 research labs and an R1 research designation, NJIT continues to strengthen New Jersey’s innovation economy.

NJIT contributed $1.74 billion to the state’s economy and engaged in over 45,000 hours of community service. Its largest business incubator helped generate $82 million in annual revenue and employed more than 800 people.
