Our Role and Focus

The Office of Public and Community Affairs (OPCA) serves as the primary point of contact between NJIT and elected officials in Essex County, Newark city government, and regional public agencies. The office navigates government processes for university units and facilitates connections with appropriate local government entities. OPCA maintains regular communication with Essex County's legislative delegation, ensuring NJIT's perspectives and needs are represented in local policy discussions and advocating for the university's interests at the county level.
